Areas of Profitability

I saw a survey on an exclusive membership website that basically asked its members what activities have been the most profitable to them. I thought that the results might be of some interest, especially to those people who are thinking of venturing into Internet Marketing. While it does provide a general overview of what’s profitable for these Internet Marketers, I would just like to add that whatever the activity, there are people profiting from it. It’s not a good idea to just jump onto an opportunity because the most number of people are making money from it. We are all made different and might excel in different areas or fields. Anyway, here’s the results:

Number 1: Product Selling
Basically, this is pretty straight forward, meaning you sell your own product. It’s not surprising that this ranks the most profitable, since you have your own product and will be able to form joint ventures and stuff like that. Additionally, most people who venture into Product Selling are people who are willing to work hard, since it’s not easy to come up with products and take charge of every aspect of the business. Well… it’s easier with better technology, but nevertheless, still slightly more time-consuming than other activities.

Number 2: Adsense
Adsense is basically just slapping on advertisements from Google. To be honest, I’m quite surprised to see this rank as number 2, but after thinking a bit more, it might be due to the fact that webmasters who use Adsense tend to have more time to market their websites. Instead of sourcing for products to promote and canvassing for advertisements, their time could be used to further expand their websites. Therefore, this could be a reasonable explaination of why Adsense helps your website become profitable.

Number 3: Affiliates
This means that you sell other people’s products for a commission. The commission varies and normally good affiliate marketers have to do a lot of scouting for good offers to promote. Affiliates do not get paid just for selling something, since there are times that they are paid when visitors perform certain actions as well. Personally, this used to be my main source of income when I was active in Internet Marketing 4 years ago. Of course, this requires comparably more work than Adsense.

Number 4: eBay
Well… there are more and more eBay millionaires as I speak and as you read. It may be a good area to explore, if you know of any good dropshippers or wholesalers. Just do not get fooled into buying those wholesale lists promising the best dropship and wholesale sources. Many of them are just out to scam you, so be careful to do your due diligence, as with everything else.

That’s basically the top 4 and in my opinion, perhaps it already sums up most of the Internet Marketing activities. Of course, there are always hidden sources of gold and to prospect for them is everybody’s goal. Just work diligently towards whatever you want and good things will follow. As with intelligence, luck is the result of diligence. The more diligent you are, the more lucky you get. I’m not talking nonsense, but diligence gives yourself more exposure in the areas that you are working on and exposure gives you more opportunities. When someone has opportunities knocking, we call them lucky. If you think in this context, isn’t it true that the more diligent you are, the luckier you get?

There, I just gave you the secret to being lucky. :)
