Comfort Zones Limit Achievements
Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ April 5th, 2007 - 2:24 amFew months ago, I reflected on myself and think that I tend to be easily contented and that seems to be stopping my achievements. When I look at it, I don’t think I’m the only person in the world that limits achievement by staying in a comfort zone. It’s not that I’m super rich or anything, but rather the fact that there is no immediate need that I am reaching out for. It seems like I’m comfortable with what I have… well, I just need a computer and food to survive and have fun. I’m just too easily satisfied and it seems pretty ironically for a person living in Singapore, where we’re famous for being involved in the rat race, for saying that.
Anyway, identifying this character, I started this blog to get out of my comfort zone and to make becoming a millionaire a need. Recently, I have been thinking of quitting my job and quitting school to make this need stronger. Well… quitting school is unlikely, but tentatively, I’ll be stopping work after my holidays. I know that I definitely have the knowledge to achieve what I want after reading so many great books and listening to incredible teleseminars. I just need to give myself a push to work those strategies that I have learnt from people who have done it.
I also asked myself ‘Why do I want to become a millionaire?’. My first response was… because I can, why not? Then, after a moment, I thought harder and think my main reason is actually to get people to listen to what I have to say. I love to teach, but I do not want to be just another lecturer where students sleep in my class and just pray that the lesson is ending soon. I want to have personal results and not step into a teaching job, then get branded as someone who can teach, but cannot do.
It’s also the reason why I prefer to go into Internet Marketing than Options Trading. It’s easier to transfer knowledge from Internet Marketing to other people, since it is low cost and low risk to start an internet business. Why did I dig into the reasons? Well… I believe that to get out of a comfort zone, we need to know exactly why we want to be in another position. By being honest and seeing what?we really want, then we are able to work for a reason and gain motivation through that.
To move towards becoming a millionaire, I will be setting short term and?mid term goals. I will also be following a rigid system of personal time management during the holidays defining exactly what I have to do each day. It’s not going to be easy to follow a system strictly when my friends are out there enjoying their holidays, which is why I need reasons to justify the importance of reaching my goals. If it’s not important to me, it’s going to be?easy for me to stray away from the path once again.
Therefore, I have decided that the first thing I will do during the holidays is to come up with my goals and how important they are to me. Then, I will write out my strategy for achieving them, followed by the day-to-day actions needed to execute those strategies. I expect to take a week to draw out a clear plan, so that it maximizes my efforts, instead of staring into blank space all the time.?There are quite a few times where I spend an hour or so just clicking desktop icons and that’s lame.
Let’s see how this plan will work, my holidays are coming in a month, that’s fast.
