Experiencing e27 Unconference

Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ July 12th, 2008 - 9:14 pm

I have not been blogging for quite some time due to working on some stuff, such as coming up with content for MyWobile and doing web development for it. MyWobile is the official name for the application and web platform that my friends and I have been involved with. The site was posted live a few days ago, but some content was still not available until yesterday where all the front end content were completed. I have to move on to completing the member’s area and get ready for our beta testing, which many people are already interested to participate in.

Anyway, the Unconference today made me really tired and my legs went wobbly after clocking like 5 hours of standing. My throat also went slightly sore after speaking to 30 to 40 people about the business idea and answering any questions that they may have. It’s even more tiring than street prospecting or doing road shows as a financial consultant, but I believe the effort is worth it, since it has definitely drawn many eyeballs to MyWobile.

I was very pleased with the event, because there were quite a lot of participants and most of them are quite knowledgeable and willing to share. While I was explaining about what MyWobile does, people were listening and offering feedback on how to improve, how to market and what to take note of. Additionally, the participants were also quite diverse in nature with people originating from different countries, thus providing different concerns and feedback.

Among the people that we talk to, there were basically three groups:

  • Potential Strategic Partners
  • Potential Venture Capitalists
  • Potential MyWobile Users

Potential Venture Capitalists and Strategic Partners tend to ask quite technical and detailed questions, so it’s quite good that I came from a technical background. I also took the chance to ask some people to visit the MyWobile blog and sign up for email updates so that they can be notified whenever we make a blog post. With that, we will also have a ready audience, who will be giving us some pressure and ensure that we develop faster than the speed that we are already developing at. :)

There were also some conversations that deal with lack of innovation in Singapore and I may probably address that issue in another blog post. I do have some idea on what I want to say, but for now… this post is long enough and I’m going to take a break after a hard day’s work. Stay tuned~~~ :)

    Hey Hang Wei,
I am glad MyWobile was part of the E27 Unconference! It was great to see you guys at the event and the interest that you got from the public was amazing (could see that your booth was full most of the time).

Good work on the product and all the best!

Hi Mohan, thanks for the well wishes and the wonderful event. It was very well-organized and the profile of the people at the event is simply amazing and everyone was so willing to open up. Just a few days after the event, I can already see many blog posts of how wonderful the unconference went. :)
