Fed Announcement Only Minutes Away
Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ September 19th, 2007 - 2:16 amI just can’t sleep tonight… not just yet… The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is being held as I’m typing. This meeting may play an important role as to how stocks will perform over the next few weeks. Everyone is expecting a 25 basis point cut, which is equilvalent to 0.25%. Anyway, I belong to the side where I believe a rate cut is very likely and I obviously hope that the rates will be cut down even further than 25 basis points. For the benefit of all audiences, interest rate cuts generally improve stock performance.
Anyway, I’m pretty anxious tonight because I have almost all my assets in mutual funds positions at the moment and the market is simply too volatile nowadays. Usually, I’m able to sleep peacefully at night even when I know that my assets are subjected to the fluctuations of the market, but tonight is just different. A couple of percent change in my portfolio may be expected, depending on how the meeting goes.
After I finished typing this post, I think the statement will be released. Additionally, investors are looking forward to what Mr Bernanke would say. His words can literally move the entire world markets… what a powerful man. To a profitable day, cheers!
