Finally Passed Basic Driving Theory

Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ November 24th, 2008 - 10:51 am

I still remember vividly that I failed my basic theory 4 years ago and I simply refuse to take it again for several reasons. One of the reasons being the fact that I think I may probably never drive, since I don’t even like the mere thought of driving or owning a car. I don’t like driving because I prefer to take a quick nap while commuting and I don’t like owning a car because of the costs associated with it. I think I would prefer taking taxis rather than driving myself.

It was only until recently that I decided to take up driving because I envisioned the possibility of me working overseas. However, the only two big banks that provided for that possibility had decided that I was not good enough to enter their prestigious banks. It made me wonder whether I should even continue to finish up my driving lessons, since I will probably not be driving anyway for the reasons stated above. Additionally, if I were to really be involved with only Internet Marketing full-time, I will probably be staying at home 90% of the time and a driving license would be pretty useless for me.

On the other hand, everybody else around me says that I should have a driving license. Probably it’s because no one else wants to drive and just hope that more people would learn to drive and someone else can take up the responsibility of driving while they sleep. :) Of course, I don’t seriously believe that’s the reason everyone has been urging me to get a license. They probably are thinking that having an additional skill is better than not having it.

I am thinking along another line though. Having a skill that may potentially cause me to make large financial obligations and lose my precious sleep while commuting may not be a good skill to have. Of course, there is a possibility that I can get to drive for free with a company car, but I don’t even know what are the chances of me working for a company in view of today’s economy.

Ultimately though, I think I will still have to get my license, simply because everyone else around me thinks I should.
