Google Pagerank Update

Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ April 3rd, 2009 - 2:45 am

Just when I started focusing on Internet Marketing with real actions done, Google has a pagerank update. This update is not particularly favorable for my websites, since all of them fell in their Pagerank. Over the past few years that I neglected the websites that I built up, all of my websites had fallen in pagerank and traffic gradually. Recently though, I have started working to get the traffic back up, so the traffic is increasing slowly, yet this pagerank update showed a decrease in pagerank.

The reason is actually pretty obvious… my websites may be improving but it is not improving at a faster pace than the good sites. I think it shows a good point whether in the offline or online world. If you do not improve, you will lose your current standing over time and that is why the best continue doing whatever they are already good in.

Anyway, I am pretty curious whether webmasters are still using the term Google Dance, since I recall vividly that a few years back, webmasters would clutter around forums and talk about the latest dance. Whenever a Google Dance seems to be nearing with the evidence of some servers gradually showing different pagerank from the main servers, forums will be flooded instantly and centred around the Google anxiety syndrome.

It seems though that over time, people have stopped getting so engrossed with Google Dancing and the term seems to be lost also as I see no mention of it in recent forums. To be gone from the Internet Marketing scene for so long that even a once-famous term is no longer being used must be a really long time. It seems like I have a lot of catch-up to do in this new marketplace where the pie is bigger, but the number of competitors has grown by even a larger number.

I am also in the midst of building a new site, since the whole internet marketing landscape has changed so much. Hopefully, this site can stand tall in the midst of billions of webpages when it’s launched.
