Income for January 2007

Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ February 1st, 2007 - 2:29 am

It’s the end of the month and here’s what I’m going to do again: posting about my income for the month. However, I think there is not much details to post about, since the figures are not big numbers, so I will just casually mention that I made about $200 profit through my websites for the month of January 2007. This is not a large figure, but I didn’t do anything to get this $200, since the only 2 sites I manage in this month are my jokes site and this blog.

My jokes site does not make any money and I have no intention to make any money off it in the near term. This blog got about $1.80 in revenue, but $4 in hosting expenses, so yeah I’m losing money on this blog. The only profitable websites seem to be precisely those that I’m not spending time on. Perhaps I should focus my time on those websites and I will start seeing a jump in profits. Yeah, I know I will make more money if I just work on those websites, but I’m now under employment and can’t spare time on my websites. :)

Well, you see… my job requires me to work 40 hours a week. However, I’m employed not because I’m damn hard on cash, but rather to challenge myself and make sure I’m growing. Besides, I see a good potential in the project I’m undertaking and I want to bring the project to great heights. I believe that being involved with this project will equip me with the necessary marketing experience to make my first million dollars.

Initially, I thought that I would neglect my schoolwork once I started working, but I was way too wrong. When it comes to projects, I still contribute a lot and probably the highest contributing member in all my project groups. I’m not much surprised with this though, since I had always taken a lot of pride in project work. One of the main reasons being that projects are assessed on a group basis and I insist on providing more value to my team members. I would say it’s just my desire to constantly over-deliver that drives me, but I don’t expect the same from my project mates. So… yeah, I’m fine with most freeloaders as long as the freeloader is not someone I don’t like in the first place.

The change that stunned me was my diligence in the textbooks. Although I didn’t catch up to the latest chapters for all my modules, I still did read through a bit of the textbooks here and there, which is something amazing in itself. I used to read textbooks just a day or two before tests or examinations. It’s nice to know that I can read textbooks without falling asleep too. :)

I’m pretty satisfied with my life for the past two weeks. I sleep much lesser than before, feel more energetic and enjoys a much steeper learning curve than ever. I am now better able to relate textbook theories to practical applications and vice versa. I really enjoy the whole process so far and my brain is also jumping with joy that it is being used more often than before. I used to neglect using it by sleeping like more than 14 hours every day, but now… it’s more like 5 or so. Well… some days I do sleep more, such as weekends, but you get the idea.

Guess what? I wrote this post with the intention to post about my income for January 2007, but look how much I have diverted. It’s not that important anyway, since I only made that $200 this month. You might also be interested in how my mutual funds are doing, so let me just say they are at -0.5% at the moment. It tends to move up and down, but I’m investing for the long-term and don’t really care. With that said, there are no other incomes to post and I’ll end it just here. Zzz… I’m feeling sleepy, time in my country is 2:34 AM now, haha. Good night. :)

I used to sleep like 14 hours per day, but now I cut down to 4-5 hours a day on weekdays and around 7 on weekends. I think I used to oversleep too much, because I feel much more energetic now that I sleep lesser. Also, the excitement of having something to look forward to keeps me going. One moment, I’m doing my school projects and the other moment, I’m working. Anyway, I don’t want to leave a long reply to a comment, but I will blog about my current schedule later in the day or tomorrow.

Hi Marie, thanks for posting a comment on my blog, but I have removed the affiliate links to prevent other people from submitting affiliate links as well. If I post your affiliate link, many other people will follow and I cannot allow some, while denying others. If I did that, affiliate links that go through my comments seem to be endorsed by me, which is obviously not the case. I hope you understand my position. :)

    Chartered Marketer Says:

    Hi hang wei,

you posted on my blog on how to get the chartered marketer status. That’s a good start. CIM requires one to complete their 35 hours of continuous professional development CPD every year to attain the chartered marketer status. You will get more information on how to complete the 35 hours when you apply with them. Briefly, you will gain credit (of hours) for every effort on your part to continuously develop your marketing skills. They have specific requirements on what you need to do to achieve that. You will also need to become a CIM member to qualify for the status. It is a good one to have to prove that you are committed on continuous development on marketing, just like those of chartered accountant.

Since you are into internet marketing, you may want to check out my website on internet marketing resources. This is one example why marketers have to keep up with the latest marketing strategies including internet marketing!

I have made my share of money from internet marketing too! working till 3am in the morning! Anyone can make it, it all came down to Time management and dedication. Good luck!

    Hang Wei says:
Haha, working till 3am in the morning. It seems like the secret to success for most people is almost always hard work. It’s nowonder so many people fail to succeed, because they are always looking for the “secret” that can help them get rich quick. By the way, I really appreciate you coming to my humble blog to reply to my question. I would have visited your blog to look at your reply. :)
