Learning To Cook Desserts

Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ April 21st, 2008 - 9:54 pm

Recently, I have been pampering myself with some extra time to do what I like and cooking is one of those things that I always liked, except that I did not really want to spend the long hours on cooking. Recently though, I have a craving for desserts and I just felt that I needed to learn how to make my favorite desserts. Therefore, in these few weeks, I have attempted to cook my favorite traditional desserts quite a few times each namely Tau Suan and Bubur Hitam (Or Bi Bey).

The other dessert I tried was Bubur Terigu and the first time I ate that dessert was when I made it. Surprisingly, it tastes quite nice, except that some people may be allergic to coconut milk. Since it’s based mainly mainly on coconut milk, I don’t think I will be cooking that dessert again, since it’s tedious and I’m perhaps the only person in my household who would eat it.

For both Tau Suan and Bubur Hitam, they have always been my favorite warm desserts since young, so I am of course delighted that I finally learnt how to make them. It’s not that difficult after all, although my first attempt at Tau Suan was a total disaster, due majorly to the wrong pot used. Forgetting the disasters, I’m glad that I’m now able to cook my favorite childhood desserts to my own taste as and when I want to. To be honest, I almost feel like cooking them everyday. :)

I also tried making puddings, but I did not have the ingredients, so my first trial was just to see if I can make the pudding texture. The texture was successful, but the taste was disastrous. I tried to give it some taste in my second attempt, but still somehow the pudding tastes worse than the worst food I ever ate. Hmm, I’m not about to give up yet, but I guess I really need to visit the supermarket to catch the necessary ingredients instead of throwing in whatever I can find.

Just to clarify anyway, I’m not intending to become a cook or something. I treat cooking as purely a hobby and nothing else. When my schedule gets more busy, I’ll likely chuck this hobby aside. However, for now, I can afford to play around with different foods for a while. This year is probably the last year I can spend time indulging myself on simple happiness such as cooking.

So how is your Forex trading?….Can?

At least you have a backup plan as a desert cook. Good thinking.

So Hang Wei what happened to you? Gave up on the blog already?

So how is your Forex trading? Getting closer to that 1 million?

Maybe if you make good dessert, you can try to start a dessert business and get to $1M faster.

Sorry, I didn’t see your comment, since I’m serving NS daytime and working on programming in the night, so I don’t really check my blog much. Anyway, if I believed that Forex Trading can make me a millionaire, I won’t have just deposited a little more than $10. It was just something fun for me, but not anything that I would bet my future on. :)

Anyway, your email address seems to be different, not that anyone else knows. I was just wondering if anyone hijacked your identity or did you really use a different email?
