Life Is Still Pretty Good

Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ July 15th, 2011 - 1:04 am

June was not a good month for my family. It started with my hospitalization, my father-in-law injured his back, my wife’s grandma passed away and finally we lost our baby due to miscarriage. All these seem to kick in all within the same week and I just can’t believe how things just happen at the same time. This series of unfortunate events seems like a statistical anomaly, but that’s just how life is, always full of surprises.

Now, after everything has passed, I start to feel that I am still indeed pretty lucky. When I think of my hospitalization and the huge bills, I am thankful that it’s covered under insurance. With regards to the hospitalization, maybe my body was just tired of how I have overworked it and wanted to provide an opportunity for it to rest. I feel fortunate that many people came to visit me in my ward and it shows that I’m never alone.

Shortly after my hospitalization, I have decided to change my environment. Even after deciding to leave my employment, I was really touched by the warm feelings expressed by my colleagues. I can tell myself now that I have not wasted my past two years helping people and building these relationships.

I feel really fortunate feeling warmth in times when things go wrong. Life can be pretty good when I start to appreciate what I have.
