New Design Launched with Google Adsense

Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ December 13th, 2006 - 1:40 am

Last week, well… actually 3 days ago, I mentioned that I will be coming up with a new design and now… I have finally launched the design. This is the first time I’m working with CSS designing and also my first experience with wordpress themes, however, everything was quite smooth sailing. The only thing I dislike about CSS is the difficulty of making your pages look uniform across different browsers when you’re trying to make the page liquid, meaning to make the width of the page follow the screen resolution of the visitors. I don’t have such a problem with tables-based design, but see quite a lot of CSS design pages that gets screwed up in different browsers.

Regardless, this design has been tested across 4 versions of Internet Explorer and 1 version of Firefox and it’s appearing just fine. If you encounter any problems with viewing the page, please feel free to drop in a comment to let me know the exact problems you faced so that I can fix it. I also need some comments on how the page looks. :)

On another note… with all the ads by Google Adsense in place, the increase in visitors to this blog and the new design, I might make enough money ($4) with the ads to cover my web hosting fees next month. There’s no hope to cover the cost this month though… the ads only generated  50 cents this month to date. Anyway, for those of you who are interested, Google Adsense is a revenue sharing program run by Google, which rewards webmasters for clicks on their ads. I would say the real selling point of Google Adsense is that running their ads is almost effortless once you copy and paste the codes into your site. Don’t look down on Google Adsense just because this blog is not generating any significant sum from it, the conversions are not bad for other sites I have. The only reason I’m not making much is because I don’t have high enough traffic levels… yet.

Now that this blog is pretty much set, I’m pretty looking forward to implement some of the strategies I picked up in ebooks and audio programs. I do want to try something interesting within these few days and I will post about it after everything is set up. Regardless if it’s profitable or just another stupid idea with no financial rewards, I will be blogging about it. Stay tuned…
