Replacing My Meals With Vegetables and Fruits
Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ March 8th, 2007 - 9:42 pmI was listening to a recorded teleseminar and the topic of the seminar was about having more energy. In the seminar, there were some very interesting conversations between the host and the invited guest. One of the points that came to me strongly was about eating the right food, which by their definition, I’m basically eating all the wrong foods. I was quite receptive to their recommendations because of the way they laid them out.
In short, they recommended a majority of fruits and vegetables. Their reasoning was that to digest rice or meats, it takes up more energy, perhaps even more than the amount that we gain from them. This was something quite new to me, since although I had heard it before, I hadn’t heard it from someone I knew and respected. It was more convincing and I thought “What if that was true? Won’t I be sabotaging myself by always shunning fruits and vegetables? Was that the reason why I always feel sleepy after having my meals? Should I change my diet?” Without a shadow of doubt, I decided to replace my meals completely with fruits and vegetables just to test out how it will go.
I just had my dinner of only vegetables, mushrooms, sweetcorn and non-meat foods. This is my first meal since I decided on my new foodstyle.
How did it go? It was almost torturous… Vegetables taste nowhere as good as meat, but maybe I’m just not used to it. Regardless, I decided to go with this plan for at least one week to see how it goes. Mainly, I will be monitoring my energy levels, whether I feel more or less lethargic. If my energy levels really did increase with this plan, then I shall go along with it. After all, fruits and vegetables are much cheaper than meat. It should also be a healthier choice of food.
After my dinner, I went shopping for fruits and bought 3 different kinds of fruits: bananas, apples and pears. I almost can’t believe how cheap it was: paying just $2 for 4 apples, $1 for 3 pears and $2.20 for a bunch of bananas. The weight of the fruits is almost killing me, but it does insignificant damage to my wallet. If the plan really work well, not only will I be healthier and more energetic, but it will do good to my finances as well. I’m really getting kind of excited with this new diet that I’m planning.
How will this go? I don’t know for sure, but I’m definitely giving this a try. I will be posting my results and how I have adapted to the new diet next week. It’s probably more punishing for me to eat vegetables than for other people to. My friends all know that I hate vegetables and seldom eat even 1gram of vegetables a week, but I’m determined to stick with this for a week. Yeah, I’ll prove them wrong that I can’t stick with my diet.
