Smile More
Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ July 4th, 2007 - 2:49 pmI recall that in my younger days, (I’m still young now) I used to hate smiling. I put up a stuck-up face everyday thinking that my smiles look incredibly ugly. Therefore, I was perceived as being fierce and hostile. The cold expressions I made kept me from making lots of friends that I could have made. As I began to grow up, I realized that putting up a stern face is not only tiring, but it also gave many negative impressions to people too. However, putting on a stuck-up face has become natural for me through time and it was difficult to change. I did not give up though, I looked at the mirror and try to smile regardless of how ugly I think I look.
Over time, I started to smile more to people. I know I still look hostile when I am not smiling and maybe it will not be that easy to change. After all, I had this face for 20 years. Therefore, the thing I can do is to constantly remind myself to smile more. Smile to the taxi driver, to the waiter and to anyone who has contact with me. While I still flare up from time to time, I think that it is not as frequent as before and definitely more controllable. I think it is the smiles that is helping me.
Smile more, it’s good for health and wealth. Being happy attracts good things.
