Stepped Down From MyWobile
Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ July 11th, 2009 - 3:01 pmI have stepped down from MyWobile, a startup that is funded by MDA and it is truly regretful that I cannot stay till the end despite the wishes of my incubator. I have learnt a lot through this year of experience with the startup and the opportunities in speaking to people, companies and even the press had been very fruitful. However, I learnt more importantly that picking up too many commitments lead to plenty of clashes, even if you are able to juggle the time factor.
It is so blatantly obvious that there are bound to be plenty of instances where you are expected to turn up at two places and it is simply impossible to do so. This is especially true if I am holding a full-time job and I have just started working with OCBC. It matters to me that I quit my higher-paying job and cut off other commitments, consequently significantly reducing my income generation capability. However, I think that if I do not go after my interest now, I may not have the chance to do it again, since I can’t be a fresh graduate forever.
In the first week of OCBC, I immediately adjusted my expenditures, since my income is now so much lower. I need to watch my spending more carefully compared to before or I won’t be able to cover my expenses with my income. I need to start from the bottom with a fresh graduate salary and learn diligently from others. There are a couple of mindset changes that I need to get used to and it seems like I’m giving up a lot, but I feel that it’s worth it to pursue what I want to do.
Anyway, I am still running some websites since they don’t take much time off me and I may be trying to get funding for my own web projects. This is to ensure that I spend my time doing what I like and pay for people to do other activities where the potential for higher income is. I am sure that a lot of young minds out there are interested in starting their own businesses as well and are interested in funding.
My incubator just told me that he’s looking for more startups, so if you are interested to speak to someone, please feel free to contact him. His contact details are listed on his site:

Meanwhile, I wish all the fresh graduates all the best in their new jobs, myself included.

Didn’t expect you to step down from myWobile wo…tot thats ur baby.
anyway … actually…i did similar things. I cut off all other sources of income…not 100% sure if this is right or wrong, but i am thinking…focusing on my full time job might bring me further.
Anyway … now u may be pursuing interest over $$, but i believe…with interest, we can go further lah…with that…$$ will come! so pursuing interst may bring alot of opportunity and potential too lah! haha
Anyway … all the best to both of us and all the graduates out there lah. hee gam ba te in work!
