The Power of Believing

Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ December 16th, 2006 - 1:52 am

I recall a conversation with my brother and I was telling him that I believed strongly that we can achieve anything if we believe strongly enough. Before I could go on to support my theory, he shot me a question: “so, why do humans die?” and my reply was “because we believed so”. Now, you might disagree with everything I say in this post, but we will never know who is right, since human capabilities are simply beyond comprehension, even with the huge advance in modern science. If you could give me just a minute of your time, I’ll go on to support my hypothesis, so you know that I’m not just ranting like a maniac.

To complete the story, my brother also asked “why won’t God die?” and you might be able to guess my answer as well… “because we believed so”. Now… there’s a reason why I raised the possibility that everything happens because humans believed so. If you’ve heard of the term ‘collective consciousness’, then you’ll probably relate to what I have to discuss. I’ll go a step further and say that with our beliefs, it’s possible to influence the beliefs of other people on a subconscious level.

In short, we don’t even know that we’re influencing others with the way we are thinking, yet it’s very possible that a person staying in America can cause different outcomes in Europe with his thoughts. You can probably relate this to applying the ‘Butterfly Effect’ on subconscious thoughts. I believe that humans communicate verbally, non-verbally and subconsciously and the most powerful form of communication occurs on a subconscious level. It’s a mysterious element that can cause effects such as pretty and successful girls liking ugly guys without career and in deep debts. Communication on subconscious levels are so powerful because they occur without our knowledge and happens before we even manage to construct our sentence… it’s simply a transfer of thoughts from one to another. If this theory is true, imagine that just by changing your thinking, people around you will instantly share your thinking, then followed by people around them and subsequently… the whole world.

With that said, it’s purely my hypothesis. However, if I apply this concept to religion, perhaps God is so powerful because we believed so? And perhaps that’s the reason why Satan wants people to believe in him through religion… so that he can become more powerful with the power of believing? I believe in God strongly and it’s possible that when he created us, we inherited some of his greater powers, but we did not know how to tap on it. We did not and still do not believe that humans have powers beyond what we can currently do, which is why we can’t. I remember a story about athletes not being able to complete a mile in 4 minutes, then a guy managed to do it. Within a year, many other athletes started to complete a mile in 4 minutes. I attribute it to an effect that humans only believe what has happened and when we believe, we achieve.

Back to the topic of humans dying: If you read the bible, you might recall that man used to live for hundreds of years. Compare that in contrast with the average lifespan of below hundred now. If that was true, I’ll attribute it to a snowball effect. Man didn’t used to believe that they would die, so they continue to live and live, until one day, someone believed strongly he would die, then he did and that set the precedence that man would die around that age. Man started dying around that age, but as time passes, fear of death got people to start believing they would die younger and younger, which resulted in the current average age of death now. Of course, there are other reasons to explain it, like the bad air quality or things like the earth’s weakening magnetism, however, I’m raising the possibility of “The Power in Believing”

Now, everything discussed in this post is unlikely to be proven true/false and it’s up to you to believe what you want. If you believe it’s true, it’s true for you, otherwise, it’s crap to you. Once again… see the power of believing? It might not be so obvious that it’s possible for us to change the world with our thoughts, but it should be noticeable that the way we act on a daily basis is based on our beliefs. There is not much need to discuss how beliefs can change a person’s life, since such information is everywhere and motivational speakers discuss them all day long.

My point of this whole post is simple. For everything that you want, you should believe you can get it, otherwise you are just sabotaging your physical efforts. Your conscious mind speaks to your subconscious mind every instant, so make sure it communicates in an empowering way. Once again, this whole post is based entirely on what I believe and you can choose not to share my thoughts. :)

    Steve Johnson Says:

Many people believe that our physical existence on earth is a deliberate manifestation of our higher consciousness, and that when our bodies die, it is because at some level we willed it–we wanted to end our physical ‘experiment’ and go back to the realm of pure energy. If that is so, then we never truly die; the only thing that dies is the body we have housed our consciousness in for a period of time.
