This Blog is Becoming Popular
Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ November 21st, 2007 - 2:37 amThis blog has been clocking visitors in the three figure range for some time and traffic is a sign of popularity. Therefore, I can shamelessly say that the blog is becoming popular now, but of course, there is no significant income from the blog. The income for this month is about $8 (just enough to cover costs for the site), although I should be able to improve it to around $40 by introducing google ads at a strategic position. However, $40 is a small sum too, so I rather not make the blog over-commercialized. Anyway, the primary purpose of this blog is to help me keep track of my own life and my thoughts at different points in time, so I am obviously the main reader. Yes, call me crazy if you want to, but I read my old posts to reflect on my own progress quite often.
With the blog becoming more widely-read, it certainly is encouraging that every post I write gets read by more people. The number of comments has also been shooting up recently, which means that I get to read the responses of my readers. Without these precious comments, I will more or less be just trapped in my own world, not knowing how other people think. I am really glad when comments are left, even when they are contrary to my own opinions, since it always help to get exposed to more perspectives. For those who have left comments on my blog before, I sincerely thank your participation in this blog.
I don’t mean to thank those spam bots though… constantly filling up my ‘comments on hold’ with nonsense. The number of comment spam is even more overwhelming and I have to spend quite a lot of time just to filter out actual comments from spam. Forgive me for going out of point, but I seriously hate comment spam and hate them enough to whine about it.
With the popularity of this blog going up, I am also starting to see some people who really dislike me and my opinions. I am quite an emotional person and sometimes I can let a single person’s opinion of me ruin my day. Therefore, when I get a comment that reacts against me extremely, I do get very upset. Although I am able to maintain my cool and respond back graciously, it is without doubt that I often get affected negatively because of the way I am being attacked personally.
The most recent comment that affected me greatly was a comment that claimed I am not supposed to give advice on making money, because I put money in SE. That comment really hit me quite hard, because it is my dream to teach and impart my knowledge. I do not dare claim that I know a lot yet, but it is saddening to see that some people focus on what I did wrong and not what I did right. I am not afraid to admit that I have other stupid moments too, such as falling for a nigeria scam back when I was just 16 years old. You can also call me stupid for buying hundreds worth of Toto in the last few years and wasting all that money.
However, I do not understand why people like to focus on the negative side of life. They don’t see the fact that I made my first decent amount of money in Internet Marketing when I was just 16. I stopped for 2 years and then built another website that made me another sizeable sum of money at the age of 18. People do not see the fact that I have not been getting allowance from my mother since my poly year 3, although I am still studying.
I do not want to say this to brag, but I find it a necessity to clear the public’s perception. I am not a fool that blindly put my money into SE and rely on it as my only source of income. I have enough achievements in my life that stand for who I am, but even then, shouldn’t I be entitled to my moments of foolishness? Please do not evaluate me only by the mistakes I make, because I will definitely be making much more mistakes in future.
Finally…
Please don’t expect me to be perfect in this imperfect world…

I’d like to say that you’ve been doing a great job with this blog. I applaud you for being gracious with your replies to these people as well. It doesnt take skill or character to simply “flame” another for their mistakes. Just continue what your doing and focus on your goals. U R DOING FINE.
Its easy to point fingers and play the blame game when things go wrong. That’s the weakness of people. Wouldnt u rather “light a candle then curse the darkness” when there’s a power failure? Besides, its mistakes that make us a better person. Failure is always a gd place to start to succeed in ur next attempt.
I have read the gd & bad regarding SE but I still maintain a neutral perspective when asked by my frens about it. Im not pro or againest SE cos its the angle at which u look at things. But why choose a side when there are more important things to think about and invest ur time in?
I guess character building and judgement of ppl is something that cant be taught. I could write more to try to encourage u whenever ur feeling vulnerable from these negative response but my point is to just brave all these comments and focus on the main picture on why u made this site in the first place. Im involved in sales myself and i dont take rejections personally. Sometimes it does give a beating to ur ego but after getting beat down a thousand times, I have developed this shield of fearlessness to rejection and negativity from the ppl I meet. Well I guess after a while u’ll feel the way I do too.
Anyway I’ve said too much this time round. I do my own writings n journals as well but I’ve said my piece already. Just keepin doin what ur good at. Good luck in reachin ur goals!

Hi Hang Wei,
I like your depth of knowledge and sincerity. Could you advise me regarding Talbot Reese Inc (lately some Singaporeans are getting calls from its staff) on pre-IPO shares of Tricoastal Oil and Gas Co. Please share with me anything that you know about these 2 companies. Thanks in advance.
Regards
CH

Hi, just to drop a note on the query by CH on Talbot Reese Inc. Got a third follow-up call today from one of their Acct Exec on the Tricoastal Oil & Gas offer. Checked them up on Google and they’ve actually been flagged by the FSA-JP (Financial Services Agency of Japan as a non-authorised company (see this link: http://www.fsa.go.jp/en/refer/cold/index.html). Caveat emptor. Cheers!

So sorry for coming to this site so late. A man from Talbot Reese explained that his company is not in the securities industries. His company has approached Japanese individuals and some individuals checked with /complained to their Japan authority. His company is in IPO placement business and want new clients from individuals and not institutions.
From various internet news or sources, it seems like Talbot Reese is genuine and Tricoastal Oil & Gas Ltd is also genuine in IPO listing in the near future. Anyway, it is caveat emptor.
