Too Much Sleep!

Blogged By: Low Hang Wei @ November 10th, 2006 - 12:46 am

I don’t know why, but I have always been sleeping a lot. Just today, I took a nap from 6+ (the moment I reached home) to 11+ (the time I needed to go fetch my wife). If I didn’t need to fetch my wife, I know for sure that I’ll sleep right till the other day, perhaps like 12 o’clock noon. I don’t know why I’m sleeping this much and it’s not like I’m suffering from some disease that makes me require more sleep than other people. Laziness begets laziness and it will snowball to greater intensity as time goes by. If I let such a disempowering behavior rule my life, I will have much less effective time. I just can’t let this stand…

Today, I officially declare that I have this problem and seek to resolve it, starting from now. From today on, I will not take afternoon/evening naps. Falling asleep during hypnosis sessions is given special exemption. For this month, everytime that I violate this rule, I’ll donate $10 to a charity of my choice. (This shows my commitment, I’m putting my money where my mouth is.)

There are reasons why I set it to a month. Firstly, since this month is exams month and judging from my poly days, I tend to sleep a lot during examination time. So… if I can get through this month following this rule, it should be deeply ingrained within me and I should stop taking afternoon naps. Secondly, I don’t like to set promises that lasts a lifetime, even if I think I can keep them, since I don’t know how I will change over time.

If I overcome this ineffective sleeping routine, I will have so much more time, especially during the one month holidays. Imagine if I used this time to properly work on my first million route, it will definitely propel me much further than if I had allowed the monster within me to carry on demanding sleep at inappropriate times. Now, my word is given and it shall stand.

Anyway, today I studied for an hour with Kelvin, Wenling and Kian Yip. I’m quite glad that I stayed in school to study with them for the first time, since I don’t know when I would start studying if I didn’t. Although we stayed in school for 4 hours and I only studied for one hour, that hour was effectively spent, so I felt that it was quite worthwhile. I think I just need to try out the worksheets and I’ll be good to go for the examinations, but I’ll leave this for later. There’s still time to relax for now…
